About Hannah

Hannah Grace Goetz was born on February 7, 2002. At the age of 10, she was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, a rare lung disease that causes mucus to build up in the lungs and other organs.

Hannah spent a lot of time in and out of the hospital after receiving her diagnosis but she didn’t let this stop her from living her life to the fullest.

Hannah loved the beach, her pets, traveling, karaoke, makeup, tattoos, the colors pink and purple, stuffed animals, dancing, performing, fashion, candy, her baby blanket, watching murder documentaries, eating at Texas Roadhouse, & spending time with her friends and family.

After falling ill with the flu in the summer of 2019, her lungs became so diseased that her only chance to live was to receive a double-lung transplant. On July 26, 2019, Hannah was matched with compatible lungs and started her arduous journey to recovery. After months of rehab and physical therapy, she was released from hospital care in October that same year. Her new lungs gifted her with 4 additional years of life allowing her to travel and make wonderful memories with family & friends.

In early 2023, Hannah’s body began rejecting her new lungs, a scary reality for many individuals who have received a transplant. On July 16, 2023, Hannah passed away surrounded by her loving family and closest friends.

We appreciate the support, prayers and love shown to Hannah and her family over the past four years! It brings us comfort to know she impacted so many people and through her courageous battle, she brought much attention to a disease that desperately needs a cure. We pray that her legacy will continue to bring awareness, change and courage to others, especially those fighting this dreaded disease. #justbreathe #forever21
